European Health Alliance on Alcohol (EHAA)
Protecting health. Challenging misinformation. Reducing alcohol-related illnesses, injuries, and deaths across Europe.
Our Objective
The European Health Alliance on Alcohol (EHAA) works to reduce the harmful impact of alcohol on health across Europe. The Alliance aims to raise public awareness and advocate for the adoption of proven, effective policies that protect health and save lives.
EHAA brings together leading European medical and health professional organisations representing a wide range of specialties and health conditions affected by alcohol. By combining clinical expertise, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and coordinated advocacy, the Alliance strengthens awareness and knowledge about alcohol-related harm. It also works to challenge misleading claims about alcohol and health, safeguard public-interest decision-making, and promote clear, evidence-based policy solutions.
Protecting Children and Young People from Alcohol Harm
Protecting children and adolescents from alcohol-related harm lies at the heart of EHAA’s mission. Young people are particularly vulnerable to the effects of alcohol, facing risks that can begin even before birth through prenatal exposure.
These harms may continue throughout childhood and adolescence, including neglect, violence linked to parental alcohol use, and the early development of harmful drinking patterns such as binge drinking. EHAA advocates for stronger policies and protections to ensure that children and young people can grow up in environments free from alcohol-related harm.
